Call for Papers
The Program Committee is now issuing a call for papers for the plenary session, concurrent sessions, pre-organized sessions, and poster sessions. A broad range of international economic issues will be considered. Possible topics for session titles and papers include the following:

Plenary session :
Development issues in the inter-connected world economy: Trade, labor and monetary aspects

- International finance, international macroeconomics
- Development economics
- Direct investment, multinational enterprises

- Asian economies
- Economies in other regions
- International trade regime
- Regional economic integration
- Environment, resources, energy
- International political economy
- Other issues
Pre-Organized Session:
- Each general member of JSIE can propose at most one pre-organized session by submitting an outline of the session (approximately 400 words).
An outline of the session including a brief abstract of each paper is required on submission (approximately 400 words). - Session organizers are supposed to be the chairperson of the proposed session. If a session organizer cannot serve as the chairperson, please refer to the name of the chairperson in the session outline.
- Session organizers must obtain the approvals of all presenters and discussants in advance of submitting the application form.
- Presenters may discuss other papers in the same session. Presenters in pre-organized sessions retain rights to submit a different paper in either the plenary session or concurrent sessions.
- Session organizers may include non-JISE members as discussants. Further, up to one paper may be presented by non-JISE members, if necessary.
- Sessions normally contain three papers. Multiple presentations by the same person are prohibited.
- The organizer cannot specify the date and time of the session.
- After a pre-organized session has been accepted by the program committee, if any presentation within the session is cancelled or changed, the session might be withdrawn from the program.
Submission:
For all sessions,applications should be submitted by May 19, 2019. Online submission is most welcome.
we extend the deadline for submission until May 31. Please note that we will stop accepting applications once the limit of venue capacity is reached even before May 31. Alternatively, e-mail application forms downloaded from here to the local committee. Please note that the flash talk and poster session will be cancelled if we accept only limited number of applications by the due date.
Poster session: A guide for presentation in the poster session
[Form of poster]
In the poster session, a poster that summarizes the paper will be displayed on the installation board, using a space equivalent to one sheet of A0 paper (119 cm by 84 cm wide).
You can use paper smaller than A0 paper, such as A4 paper or B4 paper.
In addition to posters, you can bring the copies of full paper and/or regimes for distribution.
Letters and charts in the poster shouldn’t be too small to read for session participants.
[The presentation day]
The poster session is scheduled to be held on the first day (September 28) of the conference.
Prepare pushpin and tape for holding presentation posters on board at the venue.
You can bring your own PC during the session, but electric power won’t be supplied.
[Tips to make a poster]
1. The easiest way to make a poster is to print out the presentation contents on A0 paper in advance by ordering a provider of office services, a printing company, etc.
If you can’t utilize A0 paper printing, you have the following alternative methods.
Print 16 pages of A4 paper in advance and put them in order to the board.
Create a poster on a PC with A0 sheet as the layout, print the poster by dividing it into 16 pages of A4 paper and put them in order to the board.
If you are a LaTeX user, you can use the documentclass a0poster. A freeware PosteRazor (Windows/Mac) might be useful to split a jpeg-format file or bitmap-format file.
[Flash talk]
Each presenter in the poster session should provide a one-minute flash talk before the poster session starts. Please prepare in accordance with the procedure shown below.
Flash talk is a session to talk the summary and/or the contribution of your paper in a minute.
Each presenter can use just one slide.
Flash talk session will be held just before the poster session starts. This will give you an opportunity to advertise the content of you papers and at the same time will help find interesting papers.
Please send the presentation slide (1 sheet) in the form of a PDF file on September 21 to jsie2019zenkoku@gmail.com. The file name should be the name of the reporter.
Please note that the presentation slide should be different from the poster itself, and it should be a 4:3 format to fit the screen.
[Tips to make a flash talk slide]
Make one slide (PDF file).
You have only one minute and the chair will be strict on punctuality.
Audience won’t have enough time to read your slide and lost interest if it is full of words. Please use figures and illustration, etc.
A typical slide for flash talk will contain (i) title, name, affiliation; (ii) the purpose of the research; (iii) main results and contribution.
The presentation time is just 1 minute. The chair will stop your presentation no matter what. Please practice repeatedly in advance.
We will inform you of the starting time and the venue of the flash talk on the program that will be uploaded on the conference website.
